Living in love with god
Nothing is more important to Christians than loving God. Jesus called this the first and greatest commandment, even before the call to go out and evangelize. It makes sense.
We cannot love the world well if we are not first rooted in love for God. Just like the oxygen mask principle, we must be grounded before we can help anyone else.
But how do we love God as Jesus commands. With heart, with soul, and with mind. This is far more than an emotional connection. Jesus is calling us to a complete love that includes our thoughts, our identity, our will, and our inner life.
Most Christians understand heart love. Fewer understand soul love. Even fewer understand mind love. Yet Jesus names all three.
How would you rate yourself in each? Which one is strongest? Which one needs attention?
The text gives us the answers. It is time to look closely and understand what Jesus is truly asking of us.
